About_John

John Moorhouse was born in London, Ont. One of his greatest musical influences was his grandmother Muriel, who taught classical piano as: ‘The horse-and-buggy piano teacher from Euphemia Township’. She even collaborated with John on some songs when he started his recording career. John’s love and respect for his Grandma no doubt helped steer his career toward senior’s sing alongs later in life.

John started his music career when he was in grade eight playing keyboard in a band. He attended the University of Western Ontario where he received an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Music and History.

He has had a varied career that has spanned the past forty-plus years and has taken him around the world. He has shared the same stage as some of the most famous bands and singers in the world. In 1969 John opened for Deep Purple, Sly & the Family Stone, Janis Joplin, Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels, to name a few. ‘One night the band was sitting around backstage to go on with some other bands,’ he remembered. ‘I was strumming a guitar when Janis Joplin came over and asked for my guitar. I told her that I would not give it to her.’

John has been entertaining at assisted living facilities, retirement homes and adult day centres daily since 1995. His senior’s sing alongs are enjoyed by all who participate in the music therapy programs at these facilities. With John’s friendly demeanor, he is a favourite of all. Everyone looks forward to him greeting them with his ever present sweet smile and welcoming manner.

I recently purchased the All Time Sing Along Favorites DVD. My residents love it they sang and clapped all through it. When it was done I hit play again and they were just as enthusiastic the second time. I only purchased one DVD the first time I wanted to be sure they would like it. The love it. I’ll be buying more. thank you for a wonderful presentation. I feel like I’ve struck gold.
